Teenage Aussie sprinting sensation Gout Gout has inked a deal with one of the world's leading brands.

The 16-year-old has been snapped up by global apparel giant Adidas on a professional contract.

Adidas has some of the world's top athletes on its books.

The company's star-studded list of athletes now also includes the schoolboy runner from Queensland.

"I'm super excited to have signed with Adidas," Gout told Citius Mag.

"I'm not stopping here. I'll work so hard to repay the faith they have shown me.

"I'll stay hungry and chase down what's next."

Gout has taken the running world by storm and is regarded as the most exciting up and coming track athlete in Australia.

The Ipswich Grammar School student won a 200m silver at the world under 20 championships earlier this year and was a member of Australia's 4x100m relay team that finished fifth.

He's been compared to eight-time Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt and broke the Jamaican legend's 200m record for their age at the under 20 world championships, flashing home in 20.60. It was faster than Bolt managed at the same age.

Gout has also run the 100m in 10.29 and is on track to compete for a medal at the 2028 LA Olympics.

Aussie track great Sally Pearson last week told Wide World of Sports "maybe we are seeing the next Usain Bolt".

It is unclear how lucrative the Adidas deal will be for Gout.
