'Mouthing off to a losing side': Hawks legend Luke Hodge condemns Ken Hinkley exchange in heated blow

Luke Hodge has delivered a blow to Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley, following his verbal spat with Hawthorn skipper James Sicily on Friday night.

After the Power snatched a three-point victory to secure a preliminary final berth against Sydney, the teams joined in the middle of the ground to form a guard of honour for Hawks champion Luke Breust in game 300.

On the way there, Hinkley began shouting words towards Ginnivan.

It follows Ginnivan's earlier social media antics during the week, where he commented on Swans ruckman Brodie Grundy's post after Sydney's six-point win to lock in a preliminary final at the SCG.

Ginnivan stated, "see u in 14 days", hinting that his Hawks would certainly beat the Power and reach a preliminary final against the Swans.

Hawks skipper James Sicily jumped between the exchange and began shouting back at Hinkley, who was reportedly saying words to the effect of, "you won't be flying to Sydney, Jack".

Despite Hinkley's apology for crossing the line, Hodge, who played in four premiership for Hawthorn and captained three of them, was fuming.

"As a coach, that's pretty disappointing. Ken Hinkley should be saying, 'we've just had a win, a great win, we should be talking about how well our team played'," Hodge said on the broadcast..

"Instead the coach is off there mouthing off to a losing side.

"Poor form."

But others weren't so fazed by Hinkley's behaviour, including midfield star Zak Butters.

"I think they (Hawthorn) talked all year. We definitely looked at it a little bit," Butters said on Fox.

"Kenny's a passionate man and that's why we love playing under him."

Brisbane great Jonathan Brown was open in his Hawthorn criticism.

"The karma bus got them," Brown said on Fox.

"Kenny would have used every word of that (Ginnivan's antics)."

The Power will head to Sydney next week to face off against Sydney for a spot in the grand final, while the Hawks go home empty handed.
