‘Not true’: Giants captain’s staunch denial as contract call awaits
GWS captain Toby Greene has revealed he will meet newly appointed Essendon coach Mark McVeigh, adding a second Victorian club to his list of potential suitors.
Speaking on his weekly Ausmerican Aces podcast, the 32-year-old confirmed he will meet with Geelong – a club he’s long been linked with – while also catching up with the Bombers’ new head coach, who won the race for the job this week.

Greene remains out of contract as the Giants enter the off-season.
While he is genuinely torn on whether to depart his club of 15 years, the star forward is expected to make a final call on his future within the next fortnight.
“I’ve probably thought about it the last week for the first time,” Greene said.
“I put it to the back of my mind the whole season. As much as people might find that hard to believe, that’s the truth.
“I felt like a lot of people in Melbourne or friends, maybe even some people at the club, feel like I’m definitely going, which is not true.
“I’ve never felt (that). If I was definitely going I’d say that now, I’d be up front with the Giants and make it easy for them.
“We’ve got a decision to make and that’s where it sits.
“I’ll meet with Geelong probably this weekend, I’d say. Spike [McVeigh] has reached out as well since he got the job and asked to catch up.
“I said I’d catch up with him, but it wasn’t exactly what I was thinking all year.”
Greene also said that regardless of where he lands, facilities won’t be a factor and wasn’t worried about Geelong’s gym set-up.
“I couldn’t give a f--k about the tour, to be honest,” he said.
“I couldn’t care about what their footy club looks like. They’re a bloody good club ... I’d do weights at Anytime Fitness, if I have to.
Greene has played 282 games for GWS and has been their since the start in 2012.

He did admit that if he remains with GWS, he would be “hopeful” that the club would contend for another premiership, despite missing the finals in 2026.
McVeigh has admitted that the Bombers “will get in the ring pretty aggressively” for Greene should the star forward choose to leave Sydney.
The new coach confirmed their meeting will take place this week while the Giants skipper is in Victoria consulting with Geelong officials.
