‘Embarrassing’ loss summed up by moment that had Tigers coach fuming
Richmond’s disappointing season has continued, with one frustrating moment against St Kilda leaving coach Adem Yze fuming.
The struggling Tigers copped a 49-point thrashing against the Saints and there was one blunder from young gun Steely Green that summed it up.

Mid-way through the second quarter, Green attempted to throw a basketball-style pass to a Tigers teammate, which resulted in a St Kilda free kick.
It gifted the Saints an easy six points right in front of goal.
The cameras then panned to Yze in the coach’s box, who slammed his fist on the desk and was seen yelling after Green’s brain fade.
St Kilda dictated terms from the opening bounce on Saturday afternoon to seal a 14.10 (94) to 6.9 (45) victory that soured a day of celebrations for Richmond, as premiership heroes Nathan Broad and Dion Prestia played their final games.
Speaking post-game, Yze described the performance as “embarrassing” as the Tigers languish in 17th spot on the AFL ladder with three wins all season.
“I just spoke to the players about it then. Really disappointed with our performance. We got outworked, we got outplayed,” the coach said.
“We got smashed in a lot of the areas that we’ve been really strong in, in contested possession and inside 50s and time in half over the last few weeks.
“On a really important day, it was really embarrassing. Some of the lads that feel like they haven’t played well today and performed at a level that would have made Broady and Prestia proud, we’ve got to be really honest and live with that.
For the Saints, the win now keeps their wildcard finals chances alive.
To pull it off though, they’ll need to defeat the Gold Coast next week and bank on Carlton losing their final two fixtures to sneak into 10th spot.
