Tyrell Dewar under scrutiny for 'clumsy' high shot as West Coast struggle to convert against Kangaroos

West Coast Eagles utility Tyrell Dewar has a nervous wait ahead of him after he collected North's Zac Fisher high during the first quarter of their frustrating loss.

Fisher attempted a banana kick at goal from the boundary line and managed to get his kick away before Dewar made contact.

Dewar raised both arms and collected his rival high, leading to a free kick. Fisher originally kicked a behind and did the same when he tried again.

"Bit clumsy there wasn't it? To the head," Nick Dal Santo said on Fox Footy.

North Melbourne led by 15 points at the end of the quarter after West Coast kicked five behinds and no goals.

The first goal for the Eagles didn't come until 20 minutes into the second quarter when Jack Williams converted. At that stage, West Coast had made 34 inside 50 entries.

At the main break, the Kangaroos led 3.3 (21) to 1.8 (14).

Halfway through the third quarter, West Coast eventually hit the lead with a goal to Elijah Hewett.

At the final break, the Eagles led by 11 points. North copped a blow too when Charlie Comben left the field with a shoulder injury following a knee in the back from Archer Reid in a marking contest.

In the final quarter, the Eagles failed to kick a single goal and the Roos made them pay.

Cameron Zurhaar hit the winner with two minutes left and Jy Simpkin put the cherry on top before full time with his own six points. The final score was 9.8 (62) to 6.16 (52).

West Coast had 63 inside 50s to North's 41. Paul Curtis led the goal count with three for North Melbourne.
