Toby Greene hit with ban from AFL match review officer for grubby act in fiery derby

GWS' sensational comeback against the Sydney Swans was all about Toby Greene after he whacked Isaac Heeney high and delivered an "overweight" jibe to Tom Papley at half time.

Greene has since been offered a one match ban by the match review officer. The contact was ruled intentional, low impact and high.

The Heeney incident was the biggest for Greene when he elbowed him in the head while the Swans star was on the ground.

The Giants hothead's act came midway through the first quarter and led to a reversal with Sydney going on to kick a goal.

Heeney had been caught holding the ball, but Greene's high contact led to the decision. Then the Swans went inside 50 before the Giants marked the ball.

However, there was another reversal because Greene whacked Aaron Francis off the ball. James Jordon then kicked a behind.

Then late in the second quarter, Papley and Greene engaged in some niggle with the Swans leading by 28 points at the half time break.

Greene then fired a savage sledge in the break.

"He's looking overweight, see how he goes in the second half," he told Fox Footy's Ben Dixon.

Earlier in the opening seconds of the match, Swans forward Hayden McLean was knocked out from a contest and had to be taken off in a medicab.

At the end of the first break, the Swans led 3.4 (22) - 1.2 (8).

By the end of the second quarter that lead had extended out with Will Hayward kicking three goals for the Swans. Errol Gulden was at the top of the disposal count with 18.

The Giants then copped a baking from coach Adam Kingsley during the main break and it was a completely different side that came out of the sheds.

By the end of the third quarter, the Giants were leading 12.7 (79) - 8.8 (56). At full time it was a 15.12 (102) - 8.10 (58) scoreline.

"What a display, convincing, powerful, quick," Alastair Lynch said at full time.

New recruit Jake Stringer was the most inspirational in the comeback, kicking three goals.

Papley namely finished with three possessions in the second half.

Finn Callaghan admitted the serve from Kingsley at half time was "probably the biggest he's ever given us".
