Brother of former number one draft pick a shock bolter for AFL's mid-season draft
Geelong VFL defender Charlie McCartin is on Collingwood's radar for the mid-season draft, with the Magpies among a number of teams tracking the talented late bloomer.
Charlie is the younger brother of 2014 number one draft pick Paddy McCartin and the older brother of Sydney defender Tom McCartin.
The Age revealed last year the 26-year-old was monitored closely by a number of teams but ultimately wasn't drafted.

Charlie McCartin in the Colac and District league in 2024 playing for Lorne. colac herald
9news Melbourne's Tom Morris has reported teams like St Kilda and Sydney questioned whether playing for Lorne in the Colac and District League was a high enough standard to warrant an AFL list spot.
Despite that concern, McCartin is now impressing as part of Geelong's VFL side in 2025, averaging 18 disposals and nine marks across the first two games.
"I can tell you another player the Pies are looking at (for the mid-season draft) - Charlie McCartin," Morris told 9news Melbourne.
"He is the middle brother between Paddy and Tom McCartin and he is playing very well for Geelong's VFL team this season.
"Now the query last year was whether playing for Lorne was a high enough standard to warrant an AFL lifeline.
"I think the Saints, the Swans and the Cats were all tracking him and now you can add the Pies to the list."
Morris also reported that the Magpies have interest in former Melbourne defender Adam Tomlinson for the same list spot.
It comes following Reef McInnes' season-ending torn ACL suffered in the early rounds of the season.
Charlie's older brother Paddy had his AFL career cut short by ongoing concussion issues, featuring in 63 total games for the Saints and Swans. Younger brother Tom meanwhile has played 135 career games for Sydney.
