Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has called out Gold Coast star Mac Andrew for his antics in and after the side's win over Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

Andrew and his opponent Riley Thilthorpe scuffled for most of the afternoon, with words clearly exchanged between the pair across the fourth quarter.

The Crows forward got the better of the match-up, kicking five goals, but the Sun got in a late spoil that potentially saved the game for Gold Coast.

The biff between them carried on after the siren, with Andrew in Thilthorpe's face, pointing and yapping.

"I didn't like this from Mac Andrew," Lloyd told Nine's Sunday Footy Show.

"Thilthorpe goes down and he gets kneed in the head by Mac Andrew and that hurts ... Mac Andrew sort of gets down and gets in his face, and they had been at it for most of the day and Thilthorpe had dominated him.

"He just kept carrying on with it a bit, Mac Andrew, and I've got no issues with getting into a forward, but I thought he lacked class both in that moment and after the game where he took it too far."

Richmond champion Jack Riewoldt agreed with Lloyd, saying Suns coach Damien Hardwick - who coached Riewoldt to three premierships with the Tigers - wouldn't have been a fan of the behaviour.

"Mac Andrew didn't have the runs on the board on the day to do that," Riewoldt told Fox Footy.

"One hundred per cent it is disrespectful for mine, and I don't think (Hardwick) would like it. And I think he'd knock it on the head.

"I like the idea around taking it up and growing up and being tough, but I just don't see that as tough.

"The after the siren stuff I think's crap to be honest. Be a humble winner.

"Daniel Rioli said the word humble after, we want to be humble. And that doesn't look like humble to me."
