Sydney's Justin McInerney has been hit with a one-match ban from the match review officer after his shot on Jack Silvagni left the Carlton star in a dazed state. McInerney's teammate Joel Amartey has also been suspended for three matches for a similar incident.

After the ball came loose from a contest in the second quarter, Silvagni picked the ball up from the back of the pack.

He then collided with McInerney who collected him high, leaving the Blues forward struggling to get up.

"Heavy contact," caller Gerard Whateley described it as on Fox Footy before Jason Dunstall added "he's not moving well".

The MRO ruled it was careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

The high contact moment came only seconds after Aaron Francis left the ground for Sydney. The forward found himself copping Brodie Grundy's hip to the back of the head in a different contest.

Silvagni returned to his feet and ran off.

He was cleared of concussion but later subbed out due to a groin issue.

Francis on the other hand was ruled out at half time.

Amartey was involved in a similar incident to McInerney and has been suspended for three matches. He collected Jordan Boyd as the Carlton sub handballed the ball from the back.

The Blues were awarded a downfield penalty with advantage paid. Boyd struggled to get to his feet for a significant period of time.

"That'll be looked at tomorrow," Dunstall said.

Boyd left the field with a minute left as the Swans won 11.12 (78) to 9.8 (62).

Amartey's hit was ruled careless conduct, severe impact and high contact.

Sydney's Joel Hamling was also fined $2,000 for striking Silvagni in the first quarter.
