Hawk Jack Scrimshaw hit with big suspension for ugly act on Essendon's Jordan Ridley

Hawthorn defender Jack Scrimshaw has been hit with a big ban for "striking" Essendon star Jordan Ridley on Friday night.
The AFL's match review officer found the impact to be severe, as well as careless conduct and high contact.
Scrimshaw hit Ridley high with a swinging arm as he rushed up on the Bomber in the second term at the MCG, concussing Ridley and therefore ending his night.

Ridley watched on as his Bombers suffered a 17.9 (111) to 12.13 (85) defeat to the electrifying Hawks, whose win on Friday night followed a 20-point triumph over the Swans at the SCG last week.
Scrimshaw and the Hawks will now decide whether to accept the three-game ban, or challenge it at the tribunal.

Later in the second quarter, Scrimshaw was substituted off after clashing heads with new teammate Josh Battle in Hawthorn's defensive 50.
Scrimshaw, who was replaced by defender Sam Frost, had blood streaming from his nose and into a white rag as a medico guided him off the ground.
Even if the 26-year-old avoided suspension for his high shot on Ridley, he would not have been available for next Thursday night's match against Carlton because he was deemed to be concussed, meaning he must miss the game under league protocols.

Hawthorn's raft of dangerous small forwards, dubbed the "mosquito fleet", combined for 10 goals in the win over the Bombers.
Nick Watson and Dylan Moore bagged three goals apiece as Jack Ginnivan and Blake Hardwick snared two each.
Bomber Jye Caldwell (36 disposals) and Hawk Karl Amon (28) were the major ball-winners of the night.
