Matt Rowell's mother Louise crashed her son's post-game interview in the wake of Gold Coast's drought-breaking finals win on Saturday night.

In a dramatic elimination final, the Suns held on for an 80-79 victory over Fremantle, recording the first post-season victory in the club's history.

Rowell was fantastic in the win, but what came after the game was even better.

While being interviewed by Fox Footy in the sheds, Rowell's sister jumped into shot before his mum got in on the action in a hilarious and pride-filled moment.

Louise immediately went in for a closer look at Rowell's face, which had been cut and bled openly throughout the game.

"Who did that to your face? Oh my god," she exclaimed.

"I'm so proud of the whole team. They are freaking enormous. I was so scared when Freo got ahead and the crowd got into it, but I was like 'please god let us win'," she laughed.

She gave her son a pat on the chest for winning the final clearance that led to Swallow's match-winning point as the panel laughed.

"Fremantle played so well. It was such a good game, but oh my god I would have died if we hadn't won," she continued.

"I'm always proud of him because he's a good boy.

"And what about Dave Swallow, what a freaking legend?"

Swallow kicked the match-winning point in the dying moments, leading to unbelievable celebrations in the rooms.

Rowell's mum was full of praise for the Suns, saying they have taken great care of Matt since he arrived at the club as the No.1 pick in the 2019 draft.

"There's so many people ... I mean, when you come up here and you let your kid go when he's a baby ... Matt has his own family here now," she said.

"David Swallow you have to give it to him. He has Matt over for dinner all the time and it's a family now. They're good kids. We miss them, but we love what they're doing."

She pointed out Ben King's mum behind the cameras: "look at her, she's crying, this is how much it means".

When asked why she wasn't crying: "Because I'm so freaking excited," she exclaimed.
