James Peatling hit with ban for rough conduct as stunning stats show Lions 'lost their minds' during Crows victory

On Friday night, Adelaide survived an absolute peppering at goal from Brisbane to score their best win of 2025 so far. However, there was one concern to come from it, with James Peatling copping a one-match ban.
Trailing at three-quarter time, the Crows kicked five unanswered goals in quick succession to take the lead and stun the reigning premiers.
A huge Jordan Dawson pack mark helped set the tone for Adelaide, with the captain nailing the goal and flipping the momentum of the game.

But it wasn't for lack of trying on the Lions' part; they just simply couldn't get the ball between the big sticks.
The team had 20 inside 50s in the final term and had 11 shots at goal for zero goals, eight behinds, two out on the full and one set shot smothered.

Meanwhile, Adelaide kicked five goals from just eight inside 50s, punishing Brisbane's wastefulness.
Given the Lions led by 17 points at three-quarter time, those stats above make absolutely no sense given the final result.
As Melbourne great Garry Lyon stated during the fourth term, Brisbane "lost their minds".
"The five quick goals rattled them. They lost their composure," he told Fox Footy.
"They spooked them, Adelaide. They lost their heads, Brisbane. You just wonder whether the five quick unanswered goals spooked them.
"This is a famous victory for Adelaide."
Adelaide midfielder Peatling, meanwhile, was put on report after a dangerous tackle on Brisbane star Lachie Neale.
The incident occurred in the first quarter of the clash between the two sides in wet conditions at the Adelaide Oval.
"He's reported. He's been reported for rough conduct," the nearest umpire could be heard saying in the aftermath.

Peatling, who had been set the task of tagging the two-time Brownlow Medallist, pinned Neale's arms and slung him to the ground.
Neale's head bounced off the turf, though he continued playing and was not assessed for a concussion.
The incident sparked a brawl between the two sides, with both midfielders at the centre of it.
However, it quickly dispersed as play resumed.
Peatling's rough conduct was graded as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact by the MRO. He has yet to enter a plea.

Geelong great Jimmy Bartel was surprised the Brisbane doctors didn't remove Neale from the ground to assess him for concussion.
"l think if you grab your head, that means you've got to come off if we're serious about concussion," Bartel told 3AW in the aftermath.
Peatling missed a week earlier in the season for a similar dangerous tackle against Geelong.
