Born in Kalgoorlie, Michael completed a postgraduate degree in broadcasting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
After roles at 6PR, ABC, and Network Ten, he was appointed Nine News Perth State Politics Reporter then Today Show National Correspondent and 6PR Weekends host.
In 2020 Michael was announced as Nine's North America Bureau as US correspondent.
He returned to Perth in 2023 where he landed the role of Senior Presenter and Reporter for the 9News Perth team.
This year, Michael Genovese was appointed interim news director at Nine Perth, marking a significant leadership transition in the newsroom.
