An Australian woman who claims she was sexually assaulted and then punched at a festival has shared a picture of her bruises on social media to warn others about the abuse.

Lilly Perrott, 24 was enjoying a night at the Newtown Festival in December last year when she claims she was groped from behind by a drunk man. When she confronted him about the assault, he allegedly reacted angrily and punched her, leaving her with a fractured nose and eye socket.

The attacker was convicted of hitting her, but lack of a witness meant the indecent assault charge was eventually dropped.

Now, Perrott has uploaded a picture of her injuries in an attempt to encourage other women who have been in a similar situation to take a stand.

“At Newtown festival last year, I was sexually harassed by a drunken bigot,” she wrote.

“He stuck his hand up my dress and groped me on my ass whilst my boyfriend had his arm wrapped around me... [so] we spun around and called this man out.

“He clearly didn't like being scolded for his foul behaviour and by a woman who had rejected his sexual advances so he punched me right in the face."

“Stand up for yourself and don't let anybody get away with ANY form of assault, violence is for the weak,” she added.

“Don't ever try grabbing or assaulting a woman because we'll grab you by your metaphorical balls and squeeze you right back twice as hard.”
