A woman in the US has been forced to turn comments off on a recent TikTok video in which she outlines the 'rules' she and her husband follow to make their relationship work.

Bailey McPherson has shared the video on her account @bmcpher, calling it: "Rules my husband and I have for our marriage that make people ANGRY".

Not content with one video on the controversial topic, Bailey soon shared a second video going in to more detail about the reasoning behind the rules.

The rules are as follows:

1. No friends with the opposite sex;

2. No being alone with the opposite sex;

3. No texting the opposite sex without the other knowing.

Initially comments were allowed on the video, which has since been viewed 2.6 million times, but it became too much so they were quickly disabled.

Some of the comments were viewed by New York Post before this action was taken, with some TikTok users describing the rules as "insecure" and "insane".

In a follow up video, Bailey has defended the rule, saying she has no need for male friends.

"I personally feel like as a married woman, I have no need for a companionship with another man that I cannot get with my husband," she explains.

"My husband has no need for a companionship with another woman that he cannot get from his wife."

In defense of the couple's porn ban, she says the rule leads to "stronger intimacy in partnerships", "healthier body image" and "better emotional health".

Bailey regularly shares videos and photos of family life, explaining she is a military wife and struggles with life as a 'single' mum while her husband is on deployment, often for months on end.

In an Instagram post featuring a photo of the couple, one of their social media followers comments: "I applaud your marriage rules."
