After a 7.1 magnitude earthquake shook Mexico, there was new life among the devastation.

Video has emerged as doctors at Hospital Morelos frantically helped deliver a baby, moments after the deadly quake.

It all appears to take place in the driveway of the hospital with doctors and nurses all pitching in to help the woman in labour.

In the short clip, the cries of a baby emerge over the bustle of emergency service workers as the newborn is hoisted up into the air victoriously.

An incubator can be seen rolled over to be by the mother’s bed before the footage cuts out.

The video has given many hope for life after the devastation, as the death toll continues to climb over 150.

Mexico City Mayor Miguel Angel Mancera said at least 44 buildings collapsed and that between 50 and 60 people have been pulled alive from rubble, according to reports from the Press Association.

Meanwhile, the ABC says Mexico City's international airport has suspended operations while officials checked for structural damage.

As rescue efforts continue and family and friends search for survivors among the rubble, tens of thousands are without electricity and there have been a number of major gas leaks and fires.

The quake centred in the town of Raboso, around 100 kilometres from the capital, and occurred on the anniversary of the 1985 quake, which killed thousands of people.
