Uber driver befriends heartbroken passenger, takes her on adventure

Today in female solidarity/buddy movies someone needs to make immediately, an Uber driver in Florida rescued her heartbroken passenger from a miserable situation.

The story unfolds in a series of tweets from the driver and it's very, very good.

"la loba"'s first tweet sets the scene: a girl gets into her car, incredibly upset. Her name (you'll see) is Leah.

She says she's flown all the way from Texas (that's at least two hours on a plane) to see a guy, only to have him stand her up. Poor form. But that's not the story here.

"I did what I would want someone to do for me," la loba writes.

"I invited her to hang out with my friends and I."

"My friends and I are about to show her a bomb time so that her trip isn't completely pointless," she continues, in case anyone needs an explanation of why this might be a very cool thing to do.

But the more this knight-in-a-shining-Uber hears about the guy, the more suspicious she gets about the whole thing.

Apparently he'd insisted to Leah that his car needed to be parked secretly at her hotel ... because otherwise his sports coach would get mad.

But la loba doesn't let her growing dislike of the guy get in the way of Leah's perfect Florida night.

Raising the bar on even lifelong friendship – let alone one you make overnight in a car – she then gets Leah safely back to the hotel and drives her to the airport the next morning to catch her flight home.

(Author's note: this is incredible. I have family members who won't drive me to the airport.)

"The night was wild but it was worth it," la loba writes, alongside a fairly adorable shot of Leah curled up with a towel turban in her hotel bed.

"Glad to have met my new friend, Leah."
