Wedding guest claims best man declared his love for bride's father during shocking speech

A wedding guest has revealed how she witnessed an unexpected proposal in the middle of the best man's speech during a hilarious radio segment.

Triple M's Queensland radio duo Rush Hour with AB & Elliot aired a caller story, with the woman claiming she attended a wedding where the best man declared his love for the married father-of-the-bride.

The listener, named Louisa, told hosts Annabelle Brett and Elliot Lovejoy she was a last-minute guest at a mutual friend's wedding when the best man gave a shocking speech.

'My friend said, 'I've got a wedding coming up, my date's cancelled, do you want to come?'" Louisa, from Mackay in Queensland, began her story.

Louisa said the wedding was relatively uneventful until the best man stood up. "The best man started talking about the love of his life," she told the radio show.

"How this person has been an inspiration, and how if they could, they would love to acknowledge their presence and one day marry them."

Louisa then delivered the unexpected twist: "And then pointed to the bride's father."

The baffled hosts asked if the bride's father was married, to which she confirmed he was.

"The mother of the bride did, very tactfully, throw a bottle of wine at the man," Louisa went on.

"My friend and I were sitting there trying to be very polite as the bride and groom started crying and the best man is there on his knee with a ring to the father."

Louisa said the bride's father and his wife ended up getting divorced and he went on to marry the best man in question.

She claimed the pair had been having a "secret affair" for about a decade until that fateful wedding day.

"That's the last I heard."

After Triple M posted a video of the segment onto Instagram, listeners shared their disbelief over the wild wedding story.

"This is literally the wildest story I have ever heard!!!! This is a Netflix special!!!!" one person raved.

"We need an update! Are they still together?" another asked. 

Meanwhile, one listener took a different approach, writing: "He wasn't really thinking of his mate and misses on their day. Jerk."
