Tom Daley is going to be a dad

British Olympic diver Tom Daley and his US film director husband Lance Black have announced they are expecting a baby.

Twenty-three-year-old Daley — who won bronze at the Olympic games in London and Rio de Janerio — shared a photo of the couple holding up a scan picture with the caption "Happy Valentines Day!" on Instagram and Twitter.

They later confirmed the exciting news to the Press Association.

"Tom and Dustin are thrilled to share that they are expecting their first child in 2018," a spokesperson said.

The pair married last year near Daley's hometown of Plymouth, Devon.

Daley's mum, Debbie told the BBC she was "delighted" by the news. His father, Robert tragically died from brain cancer in 2011, just a year before Daley was set to compete in the London games.

Black, 43, won an Oscar in 2008 for best original screenplay. His film Milk told the story of gay rights activist and politician Harvey Milk.

The pair met at an industry event with the Olympian making the first move by typing his number in to Black's phone. 

Speaking to The Mirror last year, Daley revealed he was getting broody.

"I’ve always been a ­family person so I’ve always wanted kids, and I know Lance does, too.

"I don’t know how many – an army of kids, a whole diving team. We’re both lucky to have supportive families and we want to share that with our own children."
