'I never imagined saying goodbye': Tahlia Giumelli and Tom Burgess share devastating pregnancy loss
Tahlia Giumelli, the wife of NRL player Tom Burgess, has shared the devastating news of a pregnancy loss.
On Sunday evening, the model took to social media to reveal she'd suffered an ectopic pregnancy weeks after finding out she was expecting her fourth child.
"Last month, we learned we were pregnant with our fourth, the surprise of a lifetime," she began in a statement to her 36k Instagram followers.

"A moment that held every emotion at once, before settling gently into joy.
"Not long after, while Tom was away for work, joy turned into fear. What we thought was a miscarriage became something more urgent, more complex. An ectopic pregnancy."
According to The Royal Women's Hospital, an ectopic pregnancy occurs when a fertilised egg stays within the fallopian tube instead of progressing to the uterus.
An ectopic pregnancy can't proceed normally as the fertilised egg can't survive, and if not treated it can lead to life-threatening bleeding.

Giumelli continued: "Emergency surgery. The loss of a baby, and the loss of a part of my body I never imagined saying goodbye to.
"This isn't a post asking for sympathy. I am okay. Held by a village of women who stepped forward without hesitation, by a husband who dropped everything to prioritise my healing, by children who remind me daily how full life already is."
The mother-of-three said she was speaking out to raise awareness about the topic, and to allow women who have gone through something similar to feel heard.
"For the quiet grief that doesn't always have language. For the women navigating loss alongside hospital rooms, monitors, fear, and shock," she continued.

"For the stories that so often go untold. Because it can feel unbearably lonely. To grieve a baby while your body is still fighting, to hold heartbreak and recovery in the same breath. If this is your story, or part of it, please know this: you are not alone."
Giumelli married Burgess, a former South Sydney Rabbitohs player, in July 2022 at a star-studded Watsons Bay event.
The couple had been forced to delay their nuptials due to COVID-19.
The couple share daughters Sophie, six, and Elodie, five.
They welcomed their third child, a son named Alfie Mark Burgess, in August 2024.
