Scottish man travels 7563km for Tinder date

A Scottish man has flown 7563km to meet a Tinder date, with their first encounter shared on TikTok.

Paddy Campbell, 32, from Glasgow in the UK, explains on TikTok @paddycampbell685 that he joined Tinder earlier this year having broken up with his partner in January, 2022.

"About two months after that I got a message from someone I thought was very 'bonnie', very pretty," he explains in the video. The woman he met is Bridget Kelly.

Paddy says he thought she was from Edinburgh in Scotland's south east but was shocked to discover she actually lives in Wisconsin in the US, approximately 7563km away.

The pair begin speaking via video call and got along well. A few weeks into their blossoming relationship Bridget invited Paddy to the US for a wedding.

It's at this point in the video that Paddy shows viewers his luggage. He is packed and ready, admitting it's "f--king insane". Paddy says despite his mother being American, he's never travelled to the US before.

At the same time he is sharing his TikTok video, Bridget is doing the same on her own TikTok channel @fabledbridge. She too went through a recent break up before joining Tinder.

Unlike Paddy, she knew how far away they were from each other, deliberately looking to meet a man who lives in Scotland via Tinder passport. She says she met a "lovely, wonderful Scottish guy named Patrick and he is the sweetest guy, we've been talking for eight weeks".

She continues: "After the second week I told him about a wedding I was helping coordinate and he said he wanted to come help, he wanted to be my date to the wedding and I said, 'Okay!'"

Bridget then shares a video of their first encounter on TikTok showing her picking Paddy up from the airport. We see them throw their arms around each other for a long hug before sharing a quick kiss.

It seems their first official date went well, with Bridget posting a more recent video of their adventures together which include exploring Chicago and attending pre-wedding events. Bridget describes it as "easily the best date I've ever been on".

She adds: "I guess the moral of the story is, if he wanted to, he would. He flew across the world."

The pair's followers are equally enchanted with the couple's story.

"The look on his face when he sees you is everything," one of Bridget's TikTok followers writes.

"This is the best thing on TikTok," adds another.

"Y'all make the most adorable couple," another writes.

One person writes: "I have goose bumps! Love this!"

Others tell the pair they can't wait to see videos of Bridget's first trip to Scotland and then hopefully the couple's wedding.

"I'm invested and want to see your wedding now," says one.

"This makes my heart happy. I'm from California and my fiancé is from England, I am so happy for you!" adds another.

"Please lord let this be end game...and that kids is how I met your father," another writes.

Another comments: "I'm crying, this is so beautiful."

One woman shares: "I met me best friend online and flew from America to England to meet. We have now been married over 10 years. Wish you all the best in your adventure!"

"I'm flying to Scotland to meet mine," another writes. "I hope it's even half as amazing as ya'll!!"
