Pearl was left 'confused' when she tried to sell the ring her ex-boyfriend bought her
A woman who tried to sell an old promise ring from her ex-boyfriend at the jeweller was horrified when she was told it was a fake.
TikTok star Pearl, from the US, told her followers she wanted to sell the diamond ring her ex-partner bought after they broke up, knowing it was valuable.
Pearl said she was with her ex when they bought the ring together at a US store named 'Kay' — which is a well-known chain that sells diamond jewellery.

"I went to sell the promise ring my ex bought me and the jeweller told me it was fake," Pearl said in her video.
"I went with him to Kay when I got it so I'm confused, someone explain."
Pearl also captioned the viral clip with the question: "Was I bamboozled?"
The short video quickly attracted millions of views, with many commenters sharing their similar experiences.
According to CBS, customers accused Kay Jewelers of using fake diamonds in 2016. A Facebook page called 'Boycott Kay Jewlers' was set up for complaints regarding poor jewellery construction, dodgy repairs and rings that were allegedly swapped out for other bands.

"Kay had a scandal maybe 4 or 5 years ago. They were selling cheap imitations and claiming they were real. Get a 2nd opinion but they might be right," one person suggested.
"SAME thing happened to me with my ex-fiancé, I was at Kay when we bought it. went to sell it and was told it was worth MAYBE $50. Kay is trash," another said.
Pearl went on to confirm that her ex paid $1500 for a ring and a bracelet from Kay.
"For both? That sounds like glass instead of a Diamond sorry girly," one user said.
"This happened to me too with earrings. They have a case that is white gold but the diamonds are cubic zirconia but we weren't told that," another added.
In an updated video, Pearl said an employee at Kay reached out to confirm the bracelet had a 1/4 total carat weight and the ring was 1/5 total carat with 10k white gold.
"They're telling me they think the tester was wrong, which is totally possible, it was just a small shop," Pearl explained.
"And she also said I can do a diamond trade up, which will be cool because I can still wear a diamond and not have to be sad."
