Woman calls out shopper who dumped contents of vacuum cleaner into charity bin

A schoolteacher who witnessed a shopper dump the contents of an old vacuum cleaner into a charity bin has called out the behaviour on social media.

US woman Meghan, who posts on TikTok as @thecrazycreativeteacher, explained she was browsing at Goodwill when she saw a woman empty vacuum dust all over donated clothes and shoes.

"You will not believe what this lady did right in front of me at the Goodwill bins," Meghan began her video.

"She wanted to buy a vacuum cleaner but didn't want to pay for the extra weight of the dirt inside, so she dumped it out right in front of me — and you better believe I said something."

Meghan's footage shows a clothing bin covered in dust and clumps of dirt, which had been sitting inside the donated vacuum.

The teacher told followers she "called out" the woman, who was embarrassed and left the shop.

"I told her it was something my middle-schoolers would do," she can be heard telling the shopkeeper.

"I literally yelled out 'is this real life?'," she captioned the video, which attracted nearly 2 million views.

Meghan's commenters were divided in their opinion over the woman's act, with some claiming it was fair she didn't want to pay for the dirt.

In America, Goodwill stores charge shoppers by the weight of their items. When you are ready to check out, your items are weighed, and the amount is calculated this way.

"Not saying she was in the right, but what if she could not afford the extra money for the dirt and only had enough for the thing itself," one woman wrote.

"Tbh I probably would've done the same thing why wasn't it cleaned out," another added.

Meanwhile, others sided with Meghan and blasted the woman for littering at a charity shop.

"If she was going to behave so shamefully she could have at least poured it on the ground," one person wrote.

Another fumed: "The audacity of some people."

In a follow-up comment, Meghan told her followers the woman "thought she did nothing wrong" when she was confronted.

She also shared footage of the dust being cleaned from the bottom of the clothing bin.
