Teacher arrested for allowing student to ‘touch her breasts’

A Texas teacher has been arrested after having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

Sara D’Spain faces one count of improper relationship between an educator and student but has been released from Kerr County Jail after posting $44,600 (US$35,000) bail.

The 38-year-old admitted to sending Snapchats to a Tivy High School student, before the pair met up at a burger restaurant on one occasion outside of school.

According to the affidavit, the teacher and student “engaged in kissing” behind a Culver's Restaurant and the "victim touched her on her breasts on the outside of her clothing".

The whole story came to light, after a Tivy High School student received a photo on Snapchat of D’Spain in her bra.

They reported it to the school, at which point the police investigated the matter.

D’Spain admitted to staying in touch with a former student from the school, after they graduated but when asked if she had been messaging any current students, she spoke about her relationship with the victim.

The victim, who has not been identified, was also interviewed before D’Spain was arrested on Thursday. However, she does not face any charges over the “explicit” photo sent to the other student.

The 38-year-old, who began working for the district in January 2016, has now been fired.

This is allegedly the second, unrelated, incident of inappropriate student/teacher relationships at the school.

The investigation into the other case is continuing and no charges have been made as yet.

According to local news station KENS, the district Superintendent Mark J. Foust sent a letter out to parents notifying them of the incidents.

"The safety and well-being of our students is our first and most important priority," Dr. Mark J. Foust wrote.

"These allegations are of behaviours that will not be tolerated in our school district and that are not indicative of our faculty and staff."

In Texas, there have been 300 investigations into improper student/teacher relationships in 2016-2017 alone, according to My San Antonio.
