A 22-year-old fashion student who was in an online relationship with a model named Aaron for two years has found out it was actually her female best friend catfishing her.

Tasheeka, who is from Leeds in West Yorkshire, England, matched with Aaron on a dating app two years ago, but he disappeared a year into their relationship, leaving her heartbroken.

A few months later, he got back into contact with Tasheeka, and they spoke daily for another year. Aaron even told Tasheeka that he loved her, and she was desperate to meet up with him in person.

In Catfish UK's latest episode, hosts Julia Adenuga and Oobah Butler figured out the real owner of Aaron's profile was Tasheeka's female best friend, Sunisa.

When caught, Sunisa said that after Aaron ghosted her friend, she was sick of Tasheeka 'putting Aaron before her' so she set up a fake account to pose as him.

Sunisa had even commented on Aaron's fake social media profile with her own personal account, saying Tasheeka and Aaron were 'couple goals'.

The catfishing then went from personal betrayal to inception-level, as hosts Adenuga and Butler found that the original Aaron was also a catfish using a model's image as their own, but the original Aaron's identity is not uncovered.

Using fake dating profiles was nothing new to Sunisa, who said she had been catfishing in various forms since she was 14.

Sunisa says it was a way of receiving 'attention' as she had been the victim of bullying during her time at school. She revealed her identity to Tasheeka so her friend would have the 'closure' she deserved.

When she was told about the fake profile, Tasheeka broke down in tears.

"I don't want to be made out as an idiot, I just wanted to be happy. I just wanted to find somebody," she said.

Tasheeka described Aaron as her "perfect guy" in an email to the show's hosts prior to the episode.

"I've never felt this way about somebody before. We speak all the time and I can talk to him about anything because he's so easy to talk to and super emotional," she wrote.

"The problem is, I've not actually met him yet and whenever I ask to meet he always has an excuse as to why he can't."
