'Tampon' wedding dress divides the internet

A unique wedding gown with an unfortunate design has left the internet divided as they debate just how bad the 'tampon' dress really is.

The strapless gown looks like a pretty standard bridal design, with a sweetheart neckline and lace-covered bodice, but it's the train that's got everybody's knickers in a twist.

Where most brides opt for white, ivory or even champagne dresses, this one seems to have gone wild with the dip-dye, leaving the bottom of the dress a deep burgundy colour that fades into orange as it rises up the dress.

While it's not awful in theory, the problem with the dress was pointed out when it was shared to a private wedding Facebook group.

"Am I the only one that thinks 'tampon'?" wrote the woman who posted the photo.

People in the comments were quick to confirm that no, she most definitely wasn't the only one.

"Maybe she knows she's going to be on her period during the wedding and didn't want to take any chances ruining the dress," one joked.

Another said: "Some dip dye dresses look good. This is NOT one of those."

A third was a little more hopeful, writing: "Maybe different lighting and a different angle would help it to look better."

Lighting aside, the design sadly does resemble a lightly used tampon, which we're assuming wasn't quite the look the bride was going for.

Unless she's having a sanitary product themed wedding, that is., in which case she's done a remarkable job of staying on-theme.

No one has come forward to 'claim' the poor dress as their own, so hopefully the bride is one of those people who doesn't have any social media and will never have to find out just how badly her dress has been roasted online.

Oddly enough this isn't the only period-style item of clothing that's been floating around online this week, with a pair of awkwardly patterned bikini bottoms catching some attention.

Maybe periods are finally coming into fashion. We doubt it though.
