Hillstron responds: "Haha - that's John! You can send him back down stairs."
To which her landlord said: "Is John going to be a regular guest?"
Hillstron explained: "Well... John's a good friend... but he's gay if that's what you're asking me," along with a laughing emoji.
This is where their text exchange takes a hilarious turn.

Her landlord responded: "You could get a straight guy here if you learned a good pasta. This Sunday, come upstairs, I'll show you how to make a Rissotto [sic] then you will get married and out of my basement."
And while risotto isn't a pasta, it seems like good advice.

"Don't underestimate the power of a good risotto," one of Hillstron's Reddit followers commented. "This landlord sounds a lot like my late grandmother. Her cannelloni was legendary. I cooked it for my husband on one of our first dates. Thanks grandma."
Another said: "Okay but did she know the difference between rice and pasta?"
"Did this too for my gf in our early beginnings. She says it's my ass but I'm sure it's my cannelonis," another shared.

"Apparently my friends girlfriend said she started viewing my friend as a serious boyfriend after he cooked her risotto and fish," added another.
Another confirmed: "My husband has never kept it secret that he married me for my grandma's spaghetti and onion rolls."
"I cooked shrimp risotto for my girlfriend very early on in our relationship. I'm pretty sure it's one of the reasons she let me stick around," added another.
