The face of this year’s Gold Telethon is Tristan Aboud.

Tristan is battling a rare form of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML), a cancer of the blood and bone marrow.

Father Paul Aboud spoke to Georgie Gardner about his son, and the family’s determination not to let life’s challenges get them down.

Tristan was just two-and-a-half when he visited family overseas last year and he wasn’t quite himself. He kept getting sick, and would never fully recover.

A cyst on his foot was operated on and didn’t heal.

He was eventually diagnosed with the cancer that has left him battling for life.
