Woman's second-hand lounge purchase not what it seems

It's savvy budgeting to purchase furniture second-hand online but one woman has been left with more than she bargained for after nabbing what seemed like a good deal on Facebook Marketplace.

Mallory, from Chicago in the US, has taken to TikTok @malloryonthemoon to show off the white leather lounge she recently purchased.

It is of round design and features a removable centre.

She says she wanted a "funky" sofa for her new home and liked this lounge immediately.

It was her social media followers who explained the real purpose of the lounge's unique design, informing her that it is known as a "swingers couch".

The lounge cost her AUD $995, with similar lounges listed for AUD $5,238.

Many of her TikTok followers commented that the reason she got it for such a bargain was because it had been "marked down for a reason" and she should be "sure to clean it" thoroughly before use.

"I've seen these at a swingers club and, man, they were not clothed on it!" one person writes.

"The moment I saw this I thought of Austin Powers' swinger couch," adds another.

Mallory responds that she's never heard of a "swingers couch" before but is still thrilled with her purchase, although she will be giving it a good cleaning.

She later jokes: "When you buy a couch on Facebook Marketplace and TikTok lets you know it was once a swingers' couch".

"PLEASE use a black light on it. Then you know where to clean," one of her TikTok followers informs her.

"Girl, I think your couch is fabulous!" adds another.

Another wants to know where she purchased the stylish tan and white pillows placed on the lounge.

"I searched up what's a swinger couch it told me and at the end it said some girls on Tiktok bought a swinger couch they talking about youu," another tells Mallory.

Another writes: I've officially made the decision to buy one when we buy our next house."

Clearly embracing the unique design, one person suggest Mallory remove the circle section of the lounge and set up a snacks table there.

"I genuinely didn't think of that. Just how awesome a movie night with all my snacks on there would be," one person responds.

"Girl, I googled swinger couch and you are literally the first thing to show up," another lets her know.
