US Today show show Savannah Guthrie announces new TV gig months after mother's unsolved disappearance
Three months on from the tragic disappearance of her mother, US TV host Savannah Guthrie has announced a surprising new TV gig.
Guthrie, the long time co-host of the US Today show, will front a game show version of the game Wordle, which took the world by storm in 2021.
The show is being co-produced by NBC, The New York Times, which owns the game, and Jimmy Fallon. Guthrie and Fallon announced the new game show during an appearance on the Today show on Monday in the US.

"We've been developing Wordle as a game show for the past two-and-a-half years with The New York Times, and it's official – we are making Wordle Game Show with our host, Savannah Guthrie!" Fallon said.
Guthrie told viewers they'd "been holding this secret between us for a long time now" and revealed the show was put on hold after her mother's still unsolved disappearance in February.
"We've been working on this for a really long time, and actually we just found out in February that we got picked up and we were supposed to shoot in March," she said.
Guthrie thanked those involved for waiting for her to be ready to resume the new role after her mother disappeared from her home in the US state of Arizona.

"Hollywood is a really tough business, and I didn't expect that, and I just want to say thank you, it means so much to me," she said.
Guthrie took a leave of absence from her hosting gig following her mother's disappearance before returning to work last month.
She reportedly told The New York Times that the game Wordle was something she had in common with her mother, and she had shown her the show's pilot in December.
"Everything is strange right now," Guthrie said.
"It's strange to get up and do the Today show every day, and it's strange to say that I'm going to do a game show when your heart is broken."

Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been missing since February 1, with police treating her disappearance as suspicious.
It is believed she was abducted her from home, with multiple ransom notes received by the family following her disappearance.
Despite efforts from local police and the FBI, Guthrie has not been found, however, blood found at the scene was proven to be hers and a video from a doorbell camera appeared to show a masked and armed intruder at her door prior to her disappearance.
She was last seen the night before her disappearance when her son‑in‑law dropped her home.
The family later announced a $1.4 million reward for information that assisted in her being found.

Wordle took the world by storm in 2021 after Welsh software engineer Josh Wardle made the game for his partner.
The web-based game gives players six attempts to guess a five-letter word, with one game released each day.
