Soccer star Sam Kerr shares first photos from her wedding to Kristie Mewis

Soccer star Sam Kerr has shared a glimpse at the celebrations from her wedding to fellow football player Kristie Mewis.

The couple married in a private ceremony in Perth on New Year's Eve with Kerr wearing a black tuxedo and Mewis a white dress with long veil.

Their first child, son Jagger, who was born in May last year, was by their side on the day and carried down the aisle by Kerr.

In her first social media post since saying 'I do' Kerr shared two images to her Instagram stories.

One shows Kerr in her wedding tux without the bow tie she was pictured wearing on the way to the ceremony posing alongside two friends in front of a huge 2026 photo wall.

The second photo shows the view from Kerr's Crown Perth Hotel room with the caption, "No better place today".

The day before the wedding Kerr shared a glimpse of her and Mewis' preparations for the big day, hinting even athletes think about getting in shape to say 'I do'.

"Last day I ever have to hear about the wedding shred," the Aussie sporting icon captioned a photo of the couple in the gym.

Mewis also gave a behind-the-scenes look at the lead up to the wedding with a series of photos of her wedding preparations.

"Tomorrow," she captioned the post.

The US soccer star recently shared some of the details of the event on her sister and fellow footballer Sam Mewis' podcast The Women's Game.

The wedding included 120 guests, many of whom were Kerr's Matildas teammates.

"I know people have way bigger weddings than that, but that's a lot for me to wrap my head around," Mewis admitted during the December 20 episode.

"Talking to 120 people in one night is a lot. The thing that worries me is that I won't be able to give enough time to everybody, so that's what I'm stressing about right now."

Football commitments mean Kerr and Mewis weren't planning to go on a honeymoon straight after the wedding.

"But we are talking about going to the men's World Cup, which I know isn't very, like, honeymoonish," she added.

The couple's relationship began in 2020; they met through global football tournaments while representing Australia and the US.
