Five-time Olympic gold medallist Ryan Murphy welcomes his first child
Olympic swimmer Ryan Murphy is a dad!
The American five-time Olympic gold medallist and his wife Bridget Konttinen Murphy have welcomed their first child, the couple announced in a joint Instagram post, sharing first photos of the growing family and their baby's name.
Alongside a family photo, they wrote, "Family of 3!"

"Eevi Lillian Murphy came into the world on 1/24/25- 9lb 8oz, 22 in (4.4kg)," she said explaining the name was of Finnish origin and meant "life".
Ryan discovered their first child would be a girl when Bridget held up a sign following the swimmer's bronze medal win in the 100-metre backstroke at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on July 29.

"Ryan it's a girl!" the sign read.
Bridget described the touching moment that played out in front of the world as "Gender reveal: Paris edition".
"Of all the medals you've won in your career, this one is by far the most special. Our biggest dream come true," she said, explaining the idea had been created by her sister just 24 hours earlier.

Ryan recently acknowledged he had "much to celebrate and be thankful for" after a huge year at Paris 2024, finding out his was going to be a dad and buying their first home.
The pair had shared photos with followers. during their pregnancy, including one special picture taken at Christmas.

"Our Christmas gift is coming soon!" the caption read.
Ryan and Bridget met in college.
He told People in February 2024, "She's been a huge part of my success over the past couple of years.
"I think she's someone who definitely gets me just motivated about life."
