Kate Middleton's thoughtful gesture during recent visit

Kate Middleton has proven herself to be one of the most thoughtful royals during a recent engagement at an ambulance station.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were visiting Newham Ambulance Station to speak with a group who have been working throughout the pandemic when it started to rain.

According to The Mirror, the royal couple were equipped with an umbrella, one of the women who was speaking didn't have one.

It was then that William and Kate asked if the woman wanted one. She politely declined, saying she didn't want to make a fuss, but the duchess insisted on it, asking her royal protection officer if there was another one the woman could use.

Prince William was heard saying: "I feel bad you haven't got an umbrella. Would you like one?"

Kate was then heard saying: "Is there a spare? There's a spare one?"

The visit continued, with the royals speaking with paramedic Jay Jahin Kahn who asked if they could FaceTime her dad Abu who was away from the family caring for his sick mother. They immediately agreed, and William and Kate spoke with him for a few minutes.

William told Abu he must be "very proud" of his daughter and Abu confirmed he most definitely was.

The duke and duchess also spoke to staff about the challenges they have faced during their time with the service.

They met with Shani Smith who has been helping to run one of the special tea truck which served ambulance staff during the pandemic and spoke to her about her mental health training which she used to further supported them during trying times.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared the visit on their Kensington Royal Instagram pages, sharing a photo of their conversation with Abu.

The photo was posted along with the caption: "At Newham Ambulance Station in East London with paramedic Jay and her family in the UK 🇬🇧 and 🇧🇩 Bangladesh.

"Today The Duke and Duchess spoke with ambulance staff and paramedics about their experiences of working during one of the most challenging periods in the London Ambulance Service's history.

"They heard how Jay has coped with the pressures of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the impact of having to isolate from her family.

"The London Ambulance Service has received funding from @nhscharitiestogether, of which The Duke and Duchess are joint Patrons, to enable them to continue to run their fleet of Wellbeing Tea Trucks which provide hot drinks, snacks and the chance to have a break for staff and volunteers.

"Over the last year, The Duke and Duchess and The Royal Foundation have worked to support those working on the frontline of the pandemic, including through the provision of grants to ten leading charities at the heart of mental health and frontline support as part of a bespoke COVID relief fund."
