The one word Will and Kate's nanny is 'banned' from using around George, Charlotte and Louis

The Prince and Princess of Wales have been assisted in raising their children for the past decade by a dedicated live in nanny named Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.

Borrallo has helped care for Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, throughout their lives, her support sorely needed as Prince William and Kate Middleton undertake their royal duties.

While this is all par for the course in royal families, there is one rule Borrallo reportedly follows that most parents may not have considered implementing in their own homes.

The use of the word "kid" or "kids" is reportedly ''banned'', as it is considered disrespectful to children, the Daily Record reports.

This is according to Louise Heren, author of Nanny in a Book: The Common-Sense Guide to Childcare, who told The Mirror: "The word kid is banned. It's a mark of respect for the children as individuals."

Express UK further reported on the rules the nanny follows, including the expectation the children's screen time will be limited.

Royal royal expert Kate Nicholl told OK!: "The emphasis during this time will be on arts and crafts, painting, and doing things that aren't screen-orientated. Kate is usually very strict on screen time and keeps it to a minimum."

It has also been reported that Borrallo, alongside William and Kate, raises the children with a firm but kind hand. There is no yelling or strict punishments.

Her support would have been of particular importance over the past 12 months while Kate, 42, underwent treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer. She completed her treatment in September.

Borrallo is of Spanish descent and was trained at the Norland College in Bath which boasts a stellar reputation.

It is understood Borrallo helps care for the children on a day-to-day basis alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales who are as hands on as their schedule allows, most of the time wearing a light brown uniform with sensible flat shoes to allow her to keep up with the active royal children.

Observing the Wales children in public and interacting with their parents and it appears they are enjoying an idyllic upbringing that has helped foster the confidence and comfort expected of young royals.

Prince William and brother Prince Harry were cared for by Welsh nanny 'Tiggy' Legge-Bourke throughout their childhoods. She remains close to the brothers and attended both their weddings.

She is the godmother to Harry's son Prince Archie, and William is the godfather to her younger son, Tom.

It was reported this week that Legge-Bourke's stepson was tragically killed stepson Edward Pettifer, 31, was killed in the New Orleans terror attack on January 1.

William and Kate expressed their condolences in a public statement shared on social media. It read: "Catherine and I have been shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Ed Pettifer.

"Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Pettifer family and all those innocent people who have been tragically impacted by this horrific attack," wrote William.
