Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have married in a secret, intimate ceremony in Windsor in the presence of the Queen.

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the couple tied the knot on Friday morning in front of 20 guests, including Prince Andrew, at All Saints Chapel in Windsor Great Park.

Beatrice, 31, and Edoardo had initially planned to wed in May but were forced to cancel the event due to the coronavirus crisis. They had not confirmed a new date for their nuptials.

The couple announced their engagement in September 2019 via a statement from Buckingham Palace and social media posts.

Beatrice, 31, told followers on Twitter: "I'm so excited to announce my engagement to Edo".

Edoardo posted: "You will never be alone my love, my heart is your home. Hand in hand, today, tomorrow and forever."

So, just who is this new man who has married into the royal family? And will it affect the line of succession?

Edoardo, or 'Edo' to his friends, is a property tycoon who has been running his own real estate company since 2007.

The multi-millionaire businessman, according to his LinkedIn page, studied at University of Edinburgh - meaning he wasn't too far from where Prince William and Kate Middleton were at Uni.

He has a two-year-old son, named Wolfie, with ex-fiancée Dara Huang, a Chinese-American designer. The couple split in 2017.

While Beatrice will be a step-mum to Wolfie, neither he nor Edoardo enter into the line of succession, just as Jack Brooksbank hasn't since marrying Princess Eugenie in October 2018.

Jack didn't receive a royal title upon his marriage, so it's doubtful Edoardo will either... but that's at the discretion of the Queen.

Given Princess Beatrice is ninth-in-line-to-the-throne, Edoardo didn't require the Queen's permission to marry her granddaughter. It's not known yet if he asked Her Majesty all the same before dropping to one knee in Italy last year.

However, Edo has his own royal title of Count, although it's understood this Italian title is not recognised in the UK.

She is currently married to the sculptor David Williams-Ellis and was previously married to Christopher Shale, a senior Tory member who was a close friend of former UK PM David Cameron.

Edoardo has an older sister, Natalia Yeomans, 38, and a younger half-brother Alby Shale, 28.

Edo and his family have been friends with the Yorks for many years, something his parents mentioned in their reaction to the engagement news.

"Our family has known Beatrice for most of her life," his parents Nikki Williams-Ellis and Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi said in a statement.

"Edo and Beatrice are made for each other, and their happiness and love for each other is there for all to see.

"They share an incredibly strong and united bond, their marriage will only strengthen what is already a wonderful relationship."

It's not known how long the pair have been dating for, with some reports suggesting romance blossomed at Princess Eugenie and Jack's wedding.

Edoardo had reportedly joined the York family on holidays very early on in their relationship with both Prince Andrew and Fergie said to be very fond of him.

This was echoed in Fergie's reaction to the engagement news, saying on social media: "Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law."
