On Monday morning, Kate Middleton welcomed her third child, a baby boy, at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London.

Once again, the 36-year-old and husband Prince William were greeted by a throng of photographers and reporters outside the hospital, posing for the first official photos with their new bundle of joy.

The Lindo Wing has a long royal history, counting the Duchess of Cambridge, the late Princess Diana, and Princess Anne among the mothers who've given birth there.

The 38-year-old birth to her second child there last year, recalling the experience for HELLO! magazine's special Royal Baby 2018 website.

"While the Lindo Wing was a functional hospital, it was a little bit like a hotel in terms of the service," she told the publication in a video.

"You had really fancy toiletries, the quality of the food that you got was fantastic.

"There was a wine list, you could have had champagne if you wanted."

While it's not known if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated the birth of Prince George, Princess Charlotte or their second son with a glass of champagne, chances are they shared a similar meal to Katherine and her husband Martin.

"Right after the birth, they bring you a delicious afternoon tea for you and your family," the mum-of-two recalled of the moments following the birth of baby Isla seven months ago.

Katherine spent 81 hours in labour before going in for an emergency C-section, but says during that time the staff were very accommodating to her every need and had a dedicated member of staff at the click of a button.

"We were given birthing balls, we could lower the lights – they actually recommended that – and you had a midwife that was dedicated to you and your birthing, so she would come and check on you very regularly."

The couple can't praise the hospital enough, with the care making every new mum feel like a Queen.

And the Filkins even got the royal treatment, being "upgraded" from their standard room booking to a Deluxe Suite, which they were "led to believe was where the royals also stay".

"We're very chuffed that we were able to have the opportunity to give birth where the royals had had their babies as well," Katherine told HELLO!

The couple even commemorated the special moment with a photo opp on the famous steps out the Lindo Wing.
