Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, appears to scold Princess Charlotte at Trooping the Colour
A royal incident during which Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh appeared to scold Princess Charlotte during Trooping the Colour, has been shared online, prompting speculation as to what was actually said.
In the video we see Sophie, 58, and Charlotte, eight, waiting to walk onto the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the traditional flyover spectacle.
The young princess says something to Sophie and the duchess appears to sternly respond: "Sit down!"
Others speculate Sophie wasn't scolding Charlotte at all, and was responding to a question with the words: "It's now."

Royal supporters couldn't agree on which version was correct, with discussions continue online.
"She needed to be told to sit down," one suggested.
Another said: "Sophie told Charlotte to sit down. Must have needed to go to the bathroom!"

"Love how Charlotte is getting told off here and to 'Sit down,'" another said.
Others thought there was a more innocent explanation.
"It's now she said," one tweeted.
"I think she says 'It's now' but definitely says it in a very impatient way," another observed.

One suggested: "Just in case you were wondering, I'm not quite sure exactly what Charlotte said, but Sophie definitely said 'It is loud."
Others agreed.
"I think the Duchess of Edinburgh is saying 'it's loud'. There again, I'm not a lip reader," another Twitter follower commented. "Therefore, the duchess could be saying several things that look similar. If the duchess IS saying 'Sit down', she probably had good reason to do so."
Another commented: "She's not being told off or told to sit down. Suspect she's asked a question a few times and been told "It's now…."
"I thought she said 'It's now,'" said another.
Professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman disagreed with all of these suggestions, telling the Daily Star that Princess Charlotte asked: "How long will it be?"
And Sophie responded: "I think it's now" or "It's now."

Trooping the Colour, which took place in London on June 17, is the annual birthday celebration event for the British monarch.
This was King Charles' first time at the helm, with the royal leading the parade on horseback joined by the Prince of Wales, Prince Edward and Princess Anne.
The event culminated in a RAF flyover while senior royals watched from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
