'So much joy in my heart': Queen Rania reveals her son, Crown Prince Hussein, is engaged

The future King of Jordan will soon be getting married.

Queen Rania and King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein have announced their eldest son, Crown Prince Al Hussein, is engaged.

The Crown Prince will marry Rajwa Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif, the Royal Hashemite Court has confirmed.

The 28-year-old was photographed with his future bride at the home of her parents in Riyadh, in Saudi Arabia, with Queen Rania and King Abdullah present for the occasion.

The bride-to-be, who bears a resemblance to her future mother-in-law, also showed off her large engagement ring.

The ring appears to be a pear-shaped diamond, surrounded by smaller stones.

Khaled, who is also 28, was born in Saudi Arabia and later attended school at Syracuse University in New York.

Queen Rania, too, was born abroad – in Kuwait – to parents who were Palestinian refugees.

Moments are the Royal Hashemite Court announced the news, Queen Rania shared several photos to her seven million followers on Instagram.

"I didn't think it was possible to hold so much joy in my heart! Congratulations to my eldest Prince Hussein and his beautiful bride-to-be, Rajwa," Queen Rania wrote.

The happy news comes just weeks after Crown Prince Hussein's younger sister announced her engagement, in July.

Princess Iman bint Abdullah II, 25, will marry New York financier Jameel Alexander Thermiotis.

Queen Rania and King Abdullah have another daughter and son, Princess Salma, 21, and Prince Hashem, 17.

The Jordanian royals live at the Al Husseiniya palace in Amman.

Crown Prince Hussein is a regular fixture at official events as he learns the ropes from his father.

Most recently he met with US President Joe Biden at a summit in Saudi Arabia and has travelled to the UK to meet with Queen Elizabeth.

The Jordanian royals and the British royals have long had close ties, with both King Abdullah and his eldest son being graduates of the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst — much like Prince William and Prince Harry.

He keeps his 3.3 million Instagram followers up to date with his official duties, including attending military service and drills with the country's army.

In 2018, Crown Prince Hussein took Prince William on a tour of the ruins of the Roman city of Jerash, walking in the footsteps of his wife who visited as a child when she and her family lived in Jordan.

Along the route of the major tourist attraction, the Duke of Cambridge and Crown Prince Hussein stopped in front of an enlarged photo on an easel that showed the former Kate Middleton, her father and younger sister posing against the backdrop of the Jerash ruins.

For almost three years in the 1980s, the family lived in Jordan where Michael Middleton worked for British Airways.

William then stood in the same spot where the photo was taken.

During that same visit William and Hussein made headlines around the world after posting a photo to Instagram as they watched the World Cup from Hussein's swanky bachelor pad in the family's palace.

Crown Prince Hussein helped to host Prince Charles and Camilla when they travelled to Jordan last November.

Rania has previously spoken about trying to raise her eldest son as normally as possible despite his destiny.

"I want them to be normal kids. Sometimes I feel like I'm swimming against the current because obviously they're royals and people sometimes treat them that way, but I try to make sure that they have an identity outside of their title," Queen Rania told Harper's Bazaar Arabia.

"I always tell them, 'You carry your title, it doesn't carry you' and to think of it more as a responsibility and not a privilege."
