Queen Maxima wears glamorous cape dress for final day of royal tour to Germany

Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander have thanked the people of Germany as they wrapped up their short visit.

The Dutch monarch and his wife hailed the working tour of Berlin as "the beginning of something new".

Maxima didn't disappoint on the final day of the whirlwind visit, wearing another show-stopping look.

Her ensemble topped off three days of red carpet-worthy outfits, including some of the royal family's most precious jewels.

The 50-year-old chose a dress she'd worn previously in Indonesia, a cape-style frock from Belgium-based designer Natan.

Maxima and Willem-Alexander's day began with a visit to the Technical University of Berlin.

The royal couple then toured the Herzberge Landscape Park in East Berlin, where it began to rain.

Maxima swapped her suede heels for a pair of patent leather flats, her dress skimming the floor, thankfully not touching the wet ground.

The glamorous royal accessorised her look with a wide-brimmed hat and belt in tan.

She wore a pair of gold, diamond and gem-set 'Gypsy' earrings from Danish jeweller Ole Lynggaard.

Crown Princess Mary is a big fan of the brand and has worn the Gypsy earrings, made with different various precious gems, several times.

Maxima and Willem-Alexander ended their day by visiting the Berlin Global exhibition at the Humboldt Forum museum, followed by a lunch to thank volunteers across the city.

The King and Queen's state visit to Germany was originally due to take place last year but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
