Queen Mary wears historic tiara and jewels as she and King Frederik host dazzling state banquet
King Frederik X and Queen Mary have hosted a gala banquet in Copenhagen, marking the first state visit of the new reign.
The King and Queen welcomed Iceland's president, and her husband, to Denmark on Tuesday with a busy day of engagements, followed by a lavish state dinner inside Christiansborg Palace.
Queen Mary wore the Pearl Poiré tiara and an antique diamond necklace, and earrings.

Her outfit included a sparkly blue top by Jesper Høvring and a tiered skirt by Oscar de la Renta, first worn in Australia in 2005 at a gala celebrating the Red Cross.
Queen Mary first wore the Pearl Poire tiara in May during a state visit to Norway.
The tiara was frequently seen on Mary's mother-in-law Queen Margrethe II, who was unable to attend the banquet due to injuries suffered in a recent fall.

Margrethe's sister Princess Benedikte joined the royal couple at the dinner.
Queen Mary also wore other pieces previously seen on Margrethe over the years including a diamond collet necklace and matching earrings, dating from the 1840s.
The jewels were a favourite of Frederik's grandmother Queen Ingrid, with Mary now the sole wearer of her famous Ruby parure.

She also wore the Icelandic Order of the Falcon pinned to her blue sash.
Queen Mary helped to choose the floral decorations adorning the tables inside the Great Hall, which included roses, chrysanthemums, hydrangeas and clematis in autumnal colours to compliment the room's 17 hanging tapestries.

King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted Iceland's president Halla Tómasdóttir, and her spouse, Björn Skúlason, at the banquet following a number of engagements earlier in the day when they arrived in the capital.
It is the first incoming state visit for King Frederik and Queen Mary and the first outward-bound state visit for the newly elected Icelandic president.
They were welcomed by the King and Queen along Copenhagen's harbour before riding in a carriage to the citadel where they laid a wreath.

They then rode by carriage to to Christian VII's Palace at Amalienborg.
Queen Mary was dressed in a purple frock by Soeren Le Schmidt, who also designed her white ensemble worn when Frederik was proclaimed King in January.
The purple outfit was first worn by Mary to the coronation of King Charles in London last year.
Mary accessorised with a purple headband by British milliner Jane Taylor.
The royal couple will carry out a number of engagements with the president and her husband on Wednesday before their farewell on Thursday.

Before the departure, the King and Queen will participate in an unusual but special tradition inside Christian VII's Palace at Amalienborg.
Their guests will sign a pane of glass of a window inside the palace, which all VIPs are asked to do when they visit the palace.
