All the signs that Queen Elizabeth plans to wind down after her health scare

Queen Elizabeth has had a busy month. Her Majesty attended several engagements starting on October 1 when she was joined by The Duke of Rothesay to welcome schoolchildren to Balmoral to mark the start of tree planting season in the UK.

Despite her hectic pace, it was in these engagements we perhaps saw an emerging strategy going forward.

At each of her many appearances this month, the 95-year-old was joined by a key member of the royal family including The Duke of Rothesay, her children Prince Charles and Princess Anne and her grandson Prince William.

Continuing to include these members of the family in her most important engagement means they can seamlessly take over should she suddenly take ill, as she has done this week.

Buckingham Palace confirmed Her Majesty was battling a "seasonal cold" and had spent a night in hospital for "preliminary testing" but have reported the royal is in "good spirits".

The Queen was forced to cancel her upcoming tour of Northern Ireland upon doctors' advice which she "reluctantly" did.

The news of her hospitalisation came as a shock to royal followers however are not surprising considering her age and the difficulties she has faced this year, including the death of her husband Prince Philip in April at the age of 99.

The remaining British royals have become a tight unit, with Prince Charles seeing his vision for a more streamlined monarchy coming to fruition.

Each royal can seamlessly step in at royal engagements at a moment's notice should Her Majesty need to rest.

She has certainly earned a proper break, having served as head of the British monarchy for the past 70 years, making her the longest-serving monarch in British history. The momentous achievement will be marked in 2022 with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Following these events we could see Her Majesty winding down her royal duties even further and being more selective in her appearances.

If she were able, we're sure the Queen would continue her blistering pace until the end, but it seems her age is catching up to her and as the most beloved member of the British monarchy, royal fans will be understanding if they see less of her going forward.

It is hoped the Queen will make a full recovery but her advancing years mean she may be forced to slow down permanently, or risk further ill health.

Thankfully she has family to lean on who can quickly step in for her and have been doing so for some time.
