Why most people almost missed Prince William at Trooping the Colour parade

Prince William is almost unrecognisable at Trooping the Colour, the future king riding on horseback in the parade alongside his father Prince Charles and aunt Princess Anne.

William, 39, was fulfilling his role as Colonel of the Irish Guards, making his way along the Mall during the royal procession.

The Duke of Cambridge was dressed in his military uniform and bearskin hat.

He arrived for today's event separately from his wife Kate Middleton who joined her three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - in the first carriage in the procession alongside Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.

The pair will reunite for the RAF Fly over on the balcony of Buckingham Palace alongside Queen Elizabeth and senior working royals.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are not expected to appear on the balcony now that they are no longer working royals.
