What the updated line of succession confirms for royal kids George, Charlotte, Louis, Archie and Lilibet
Following the official proclamation of King Charles III on Saturday morning (Saturday evening AEST), Buckingham Palace confirmed the line of succession.
In an update to the royal website following the beginning of the Carolean age, Prince William is listed, as expected, as heir apparent with his eldest son Prince George next on the list.
However, the list reveals one unexpected change – on elevation of William and Kate to Prince and Princess of Wales on Friday, their three kids are no longer the Cambridge children but have taken on the surname Wales, like their father.

Since women are no longer superseded by their brothers, Princess Charlotte takes third place on the list, followed by Prince Louis.

It's something reflected further down the line with the Earl and Countess of Wessex's son James Viscount Severn one place ahead of his older sister Lady Louise in the order of succession.
Prince Harry remains at number five on the list, despite stepping back from his royal role in 2020.
Archie and daughter Lilibet both follow Prince Harry in places six and seven but are still Master and Miss, not Prince and Princess Duke and Duchess of Sussex/Alexi Lubomirski
His son Archie and daughter Lilibet both follow him in places six and seven.
However, interestingly, the palace seems to have confirmed that Harry and Meghan's kids haven't inherited the Prince and Princess title they're entitled to as grandchildren of the Sovereign.
In the document, they are both listed as Master and Miss respectively.
It could be a case that the Sussexes don't want that titles for their children or will allow them to decide for themselves come their 18th birthday, as was done for the Wessex kids.
