Queen Camilla's solo outing as King Charles recovers at home after hospital stay

Queen Camilla was out for a solo engagement a day after King Charles returned home from hospital.

The monarch is recuperating after a procedure for an enlarged prostate on Friday, which saw him stay in hospital for three days, heading home on Monday.

Her Majesty was straight back to work through on Tuesday and even came with a special gift in hand.

To celebrate the centenary of Queen Mary's Dolls' House, which is going on display at Windsor Castle, the 76-year-old wrote a book to add to the house's collection. Well, sort of.

Queen Camilla, who famously champions literacy initiatives, gave a handwritten book, a foreword for the special new miniature collection which has been added to Queen Mary's Dolls' House.

"For me, it is the library that is the most breath-taking space in the house," the royal wrote in the introduction.

"It was curated by Princess Marie Louise and her friend, the author EV Lucas, who invited 200 renowned writers to contribute pieces of writing, providing an unrivalled snapshot of literature in the 1920s.

"I am delighted and grateful that, thanks to the kindness of some of today's brilliant authors and binders, we are now able to add a snapshot of literature in the 2020s to the Dolls' House library.

"These new books highlight the incredible richness of twenty-first century literary talent - and demonstrate how fortunate we are to have access to so many outstanding writers, whose work brings joy, comfort, laughter, companionship and hope to us all, opening our eyes to others' experiences and reminding us that we are not alone."

Her Majesty met with other leading writers and illustrators who contributed to the new section of the library.

Among the 20 miniature manuscripts - all penned and decorated by hand - there were a few familiar names on the list.

Queen Camilla's son and food author, Tom Parker Bowles offered the collection: A Recipe Fit for a Queen.

While Royal biographer and producer of BBC documentary Charles III: The Coronation Year was also one of the authors involved.

Robert Hardman contributed The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the collection, featuring special illustrations by his 14-year-old daughter, Phoebe Hardman.

The Queen will continue holding engagements as the King takes some time out, with His Majesty taking an undetermined amount of time to recover fully from the surgery.

Buckingham Palace have only said that the King "has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation".
