Princess Eugenie shares new details about her first date with husband Jack Brooksbank

Princess Eugenie has shared the details of her first date with husband Jack Brooksbank who she met on a ski trip in 2010.

Eugenie, 33, spoke about the special night on the latest episode of podcast Table Manners hosted by Jessie and Lennie Ware.

"We went to a restaurant called Osteria Basilico in Notting Hill," she told the pair. "It has the best pasta with courgettes, tomatoes, prawns." She said the date was in May of that year.

"Cause we'd met in March," she continued.

"I was only 21 or 20 and I was like, 'Is he gonna text me?'"

She said they would communicate through their friends at first.

"So we met through a couple, so I used to text her and Jack would text him."

Eugenie was studying at Newcastle University at the time. She would eventually earn a Combined Honours BA in English Literature, History of Art and Politics.

She said they planned to return to the restaurant soon for a "date night."

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank married in 2018 and share two children – August, two and Ernest, six months.

Eugenie said they also often eat out at a Chinese place "at the bottom of our road" and frequent a pub owned by friends called The Pelican.

The royal spoke of life as a working mother-of-two, explaining both her children were good sleepers which she is thankful for because she is a "demon" when she is tired.

The family divides their time between England and Portugal. When in England they reside at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, the former home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Eugenie said she enjoys the anonymity of life in Portugal.

"I can go to the supermarket in my exercise gear and my hair piled on my head and not mind, not care," she said. "No one cares."

Eugenie shared a meal with the podcast hosts as is their custom during the show, the trio enjoying the breakfast dish Shakshuka. The princess was served gluten-free bread, explaining she is following a gluten-free and dairy-free diet at the moment to support her husband Jack who is doing so for health reasons.

Eugenie confessed she is "trying to shake the baby weight" following the birth of her second child.

"I don't know about you, but on the post-baby body thing — it sends me mad, but I find it really hard to shake baby weight," she said. "I guess society dictates that you have to shake your baby weight and all that stuff."

She also spoke of the difficulties of growing up as a royal and the scrutiny she was under which "definitely has caused a couple of issues around my relationship with having to look a certain way."

"I guess everybody has that if you're in the public eye," she said.

"I guess within our family, it happens at that perfect age where you're, you know, 13 years old and you've got that dorky bowl haircut and you're a bit chubby and you know, all the boys are bullying you and all that kind of stuff."
