Princess Diana's dream therapist recalls the royal's 'troubling' visions
A dream therapist consulted by Princess Diana in the year before her death says the royal had visions that left her “puzzled and troubled”.
Joan Hanger spent hours on the phone and at Kensington Palace with the Princess of Wales in 1996, the pair analysing her worrisome dreams.
Though not everyone believes dreams carry particular meanings or messages, Hanger says Diana attributed a lot of weight to hers.
Speaking with TODAY’s Georgie Gardner and Karl Stefanovic, Hanger explains the beloved royal dreamed of “everything” – but only some of the visions were uplifting ones.

“She really couldn’t understand it, but once we started talking through the symbols it started making sense to her.”
Hanger adds that dreams about torn clothing are believed to denote “things tearing at you” and “emptiness”.
Perhaps the most chilling of Diana’s dreams was the recurring image of a funeral, which she dreamed of twice.
