Ex-wife of Princess Diana's brother breaks her silence following shock split

Karen Spencer has broken her silence one year after her shock split from Princess Diana's brother Earl Charles Spencer.

Karen, 52, took to social media to give followers an update on her life following the end of her 13-year marriage to Charles.

"Well… at long last, three weeks ago, we finally moved into our temporary new home," she shared on Instagram. "Still waiting for the horses to arrive – hopefully next week! Doesn't quite feel like home without them."

She continued: "This new chapter is already taking shape. One thing that hasn't changed is my commitment to supporting the work of changemakers.

"At the end of last month, I hosted Social Innovation House at Davos, a place where my community of social entrepreneurs can connect with high level decision-makers to influence and inspire."

Karen said she "had the joy of bringing together a few of the luminaries of the regenerative farming movement that I met on my journey transitioning 4500 acres of land to organic and regenerative".

"We hosted the CEO's of two of the world's largest companies impacting food and farming for an intimate discussion with some of @catalystnowofficial leading social innovators in regenerative agriculture."

She spoke of "the brilliant Andy Cato from @wildfarmed whose wheat we were growing and who also took part in the capacity-building course I convened with the wonderful @masters.nicole."

"Andy is pictured here with Nicole and the rest of the CREATE UK cohort, as well as speaking at Social Innovation House," she continued.

"His journey is incredibly inspiring – well worth checking out if you haven't already! It was a very productive conversation and one that we are hopeful will carry on throughout the year, culminating in another meeting at Social Innovation House at Davos in 2026!"

Karen said she's "very much enjoying continuing to support the amazing people working to help farmers shift to more sustainable and regenerative practices. Stay tuned."

"In the meantime, it has been incredibly peaceful here. Lots and lots of boxes everywhere! I'm looking forward to sharing more of my new home life, once things start coming together!"

Karen shared her thoughts alongside a photo of the garden and paddocks of her new residence as well as photos of her recent advocacy work.

Karen moved out of Althorp House, where she lived with Earl Charles Spencer, recently.

Their plans to divorce were announced in June 2024.

Charles told Mail on Sunday at the time: "I just to devote myself to all my children, and to my grandchildren, and I wish Karen every happiness in the future."

The former couple shares daughter, Lady Charlotte, 12.

Earl Charles Spencer is now dating Professor Cat Jarman, whom he first met when she visited his residence for archaeological investigation.

The pair recently appeared together in an video posted on Jarman's Instagram account for the series Rabbit Hole Detectives.

He told Mail on Sunday: "I'm too old for hearts and flowers stuff, but the best way to describe it is that with Cat, I can be myself.

"She knows who I am. Who I really am. I don't have to pretend to be something I am not. And she brings out the best in me."

The split has been anything but amicable, with Jarman accusing Karen Spencer of causing her "distress, upset and embarrassment".

She filed a lawsuit in the High Court in October over the alleged misuse of "private information" against Karen Spencer, the Earl's third wife.

The 42-year-old alleges the Countess disclosed the information to a "close group of personal friends", her personal trainer and even teachers at her daughter's private school.
