Princess Charlotte joins Prince George and the Prince and Princess of Wales at Wimbledon for the first time

Princess Charlotte has made her debut at Wimbledon, attending the famous Championships for the very first time.

The eight-year-old sat with her brother Prince George, who was at the men's single's finals for the second year in a row.

The young royals had prime position in the Royal Box alongside their parents the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Prince Louis, five, was said to be "very upset he wasn't coming today" according to his mother.

The Princess of Wales told 16-year-old ball boy Joel that her youngest son had been "been practising to be a ball boy".

The Wales' met a Wimbledon ball girl and ball boy before the day's play, along with representatives from the Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy, British Army and St John Ambulance.

After their conversation, Joel told the PA news agency: "He [Louis] tries to practise standing and staying serious like us.

"He tries to practise the stands and how we stand at the back of the court and next to the players."

Catharine told Ella Ottaway, who runs the All England Club's young people program, "It's Charlotte's first time, George came last year".

She added: "They've been eagerly watching," and Charlotte was still "getting to grips with the scoring".

The Princess of Wales wore a new emerald green dress from Roland Mouret and a pin with Wimbledon colours.

Princess Charlotte wore a blue and white patterned dress by Friki and white shoes, her hair tied with a white ribbon.

Prince George – who will turn 10 on Saturday – was smartly dressed too, in a navy jacket and matching navy and green striped tie.

The family was seated in the Royal Box on Centre Court to watch Novak Djokovic attempt a record-equalling eighth Wimbledon title against world number one Carlos Alcaraz.

But it was the 20-year-old Spaniard who won the match, cheered on my Spain's King Felipe VI who was also seated in the Royal Box.

King Felipe was seen chatting with the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their children, before the match which ran for four hours and 42 minutes.

The Princess of Wales later presented Alcaraz the winner's trophy in her role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club.

Among the other royals to be at the finals on Sunday were Lady Gabriella Windsor and her husband Thomas Kingston and Lord Frederick Windsor and his wife Sophie Winkleman, plus Princess Michael of Kent.

Hollywood royalty was in the Royal Box too including Brad Pitt and Guy Ritchie, James Bond star Daniel Craig and his actress wife Rachel Weisz and Harry Potter star Emma Watson.
