Royals on the side: Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie's real jobs

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are expected to step up their royal duties, with the King likely to give the sisters more roles.

Over the years, the York sisters have made appearances at royal events in support of the monarch and his family, including garden parties, Trooping the Colour and Royal Ascot.

But this is all while juggling their own lives and their real jobs. 

Yes, it may come as a surprise to many to know Beatrice and Eugenie actually have real jobs, seeing as they are not full-time working royals. 

Why aren't Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie working royals? 

Neither Beatrice, 37, nor Eugenie, 35, are responsible for carrying out public duties due to their place in the lineage for the throne. 

But they may be on the way to doing more, despite the scandal that has engulfed their parents Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson.

The York sisters, who have retained their royal titles despite their parents being stripped of theirs, are keen to help the monarch where possible.

The King is said to be "testing the water" to see how well his nieces are received by the public, according to Vanity Fair's royal correspondent Katie Nicholl.

A source told the publication: "It was something that was being looked at before recent events but despite what has happened with Andrew, it's not off the cards."

The source added: "Whatever people might think of Andrew, the girls are kind, hardworking and want to help if they can."

The King's promotion of his nieces would be seen as a public show of support during what has been a tumultuous time for the family.

What is Princess Beatrice's real job? 

The sisters still have careers, despite being born into the royal family. 

Princess Beatrice works as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at tech company Afiniti. 

She joined the company in 2016, progressing up the ranks to her role now, where she is responsible for the company's strategic partnerships and company growth through unique initiatives and client development, according to their website. 

She also does philanthropic work, recently being named a patron of the charity Borne after her daughter's premature birth.

What is Princess Eugenie's real job? 

Meanwhile, Princess Eugenie is director for the art gallery Hauser & Wirth.

She studied art history and English literature at Newcastle University and took her love of art to Hauser & Wirth, joining the gallery's staff in July 2015, according to Hello!. 

In December last year, Eugenie shared a post on social media, sharing that she was starting a new series for her followers through 2025, showcasing her love of art.

"Introducing the first in my new series showcasing my love of art 🎨As some of you may know, I am a huge lover of art & a director at @hauserwirth - throughout 2025 I hope to share more of that part of my world with you," she captioned the post.

Throughout the year she has shared several posts about exhibitions and pieces, revealing more insight into the artworks.

The sisters are also juggling their careers with motherhood, both mums to young children too. 

What are Beatrice and Eugenie's jobs with the royal family right now? 

While they aren't full-time working royals, like Prince William or Princess Anne, the sisters often support the royal family at big occasions. 

Beatrice serves as a Counsellor of State for her uncle King Charles, which means if he is unable to perform his duties for any reason, or is abroad, she could be called to step in for him. 

Eugenie was recently tapped as a mentor for The King's Foundation's new 35 under 35 network. 

But while they have had an increase in duties, there is no clear indication of what their future will be within the royal family.

"There was no deal struck about the future for Beatrice and Eugenie, they are private individuals in that respect, but there have been talks for some time about using them when and if there is a need," a source close to the King recently told Vanity Fair. 

"For their part, they have let it be known that they are more than willing to do public duties if and when they can to support the king."
