Princess Beatrice has star-studded engagement party without Prince Andrew

Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have had their engagement party in London's celebrity haunt Chiltern Firehouse.

It was the perfect setting for the star-studded bash, which featured guests including Ellie Goulding, Robert de Niro and James Blunt as well as Pippa and James Middleton.

And while mother-of-the bride Sarah Ferguson was seen arriving, father-of-the-bride Prince Andrew, who made an appearance at the Queen's Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace earlier in the day, was notably absent.

It's understood the Duke of York made the decision to stay away from the celebrity-filled bash in light of the fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.

"This is a devastating blow for the Duke and a sign of just how bad things have got," a source told The Sun.

"The plan was always for him to attend Beatrice's engagement party alongside Fergie. But things have just turned far more toxic.

"He agreed that he didn't want to overshadow the event, especially seeing lots of celebrities and high profile people will be there and it could have put them in a difficult position."

The party comes three months after Edo, as he's known to friends, dropped down to one knee and proposed to his royal girlfriend of approximately a year.

Other celebrities seen arriving at the private party included Robbie Williams's wife Ayda Field and best friend to Prince William and Prince Harry, Guy Pelly who attended with his wife Elizabeth Wilson.

It's not known if Princess Beatrice's royal cousins were at the event although Lady Gabriella Windsor and husband Tom Kingston were seen arriving.

British Vogue Edward Enninful and Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher were also seen attending the bash.
